Winter Salt Awareness Week is HERE!

Just 1 teaspoon of salt can permanently pollute 5 gallons of water making it toxic to freshwater species. Salt prematurely ages roads, bridges and sidewalks, which are expensive to repair and replace. It damages cars and flooring and can kill vegetation. Salt also degrades freshwater lakes, streams, and drinking water.

Tune in to Winter Salt Week to hear from ecologists, public works staff, and policymakers from across the US share about the environmental toll of de-icers, actions being taken to address the issues, and how individuals can get involved!

Winter Salt Week will take place from Monday, January 27th to Friday, January 31st with daily livestreams starting at 1:30 ET
